Chris's Week

I can hardly believe two weeks have gone by since we first landed in England! I think it has only rained one day, and the weather continues to be beautiful. Before we moved, I logged-in to the American Women of Surrey site and signed-on as a member. The women have been incredibly welcoming, and to date the girls and I have been to two play groups and a picnic, with two more activities scheduled for next week. I continue to adore Claygate and met a nice "local" at the playground this week who clued me in to a play group at the Village Hall, which I think we'll check out next week. My goal by the end of this experience is to have a bevy of new, international friends!

Sunday was Father's Day. We took the train to London and had a wonderful time. We rode the London Eye to get a bird's eye view of the city, before taking off on foot to see the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square. I think we mapped out a pretty good loop of the city's "must-sees" to show visitors when they come! Being a "local" now myself, I did not consider it necessary to wear sensible shoes on our self-made walking tour of London, and have been paying for it all week with blisters all over my feet!  Ouch.

Monday was Chris's birthday, and as a belated gift to him, I'd like to dedicate this post's "shout-out..." Without him, I would never have started this silly blog to document our crazy european adventure! I am so proud of you, CC. You are an incredible father to Sadie and Caroline, and and an amazing partner to me. I still love you as much as the day we were married in that old stone church, and I still LIKE you and all of your crazy whims too! You are my best friend, and I am already loving this incredible new chapter in our life. I look forward to exploring as many european nooks and crannies as we can fit into our budget this year! Cheers.
